Ida Nielsen
Ida Nielsen is a Danish bass player who has released five solo albums since 2008. She’s known for her funky slap style and had the privilege to be the bass player for PRINCE from 2010-2016. Ida describes her time with Prince as “a huge gift and the most magical musical journey ever – an ongoing learning experience beyond all imagination”.
Ida’s new secret – her Bass Preamp
The latest addition to Ida’s sound is the Caveman Audio BP1 Bass Preamp.
Ida explains: “Before I started using the BP1 Bass Preamp, I didn’t know I needed one – but after I have started using it, I found that it is a crucial element to get the bass sound I want.
The BP1 is the core of my sound, and it makes my bass blend in perfectly in the mix. My FOH Sound Engineer is very happy – and I can hear the difference even on the videos uploaded from my concerts by the audience. After I have started using the BP1 Bass Preamp, the bass sound is clear, punchy and much more defined in the mix”.

Ida’s signature bass
Ida’s choice of bass is her Sandberg Ida Nielsen signature bass. Ida explains:
“I have had the great opportunity to create my signature bass with Sandberg Guitars. It was a natural choice for me since I played the Sandberg California VM masterpiece for many years. I wanted to have a bass that would make playing feel effortless and fit the music I played with PRINCE and my music, of course. A bass with a dirty funk tone, and with the ability to sound more old school and at the same time allowing me to create different solo sounds”.
Amplifier & Cabinet
Ida uses the Eich amp T 1000 Microbassamp 1000 watts in combination with two Eich S-Series 2×12″ (8 ohms) cabinets for monitoring.
