X3 – A Triple-Headed Tone Monster
This is the masterpiece in our line of all-tube amplifiers… Please meet the X3.
A three-channel EL34 design that covers the sonic needs of virtually any guitar player into pop, blues and rock.
Channel 1 ranges from fat and warm clean tones to gentle overdrive, Channel 2 goes from fast overdrive tones to high-gain bliss, and finally, Channel 3 takes you from a punchy-power-chord type of sound to screaming high-gain lead tones.
Channel 1 features GAIN, MASTER VOLUME, a separate EQ section, and a dual Bright switch. Channel 2 and Channel 3 features separate GAIN and MASTER VOLUME controls, sharing an EQ section.
Switching channels is instant and silent, while a tube-buffered effects loop is a standard feature.
X3 was designed to stay focused in the midrange area. We wanted a sound that would really sit perfectly in the mix – both live and when recording in the studio.
All transformers are custom made to our specifications, and use military-grade lamination. We have carefully selected every component that goes into the X3 and made sure that it is within the 1% tolerance we accept.
We have spent a lot of time on the noise issues when working with a high-gain amplifier, and X3 is without comparison the most silent high-gain amp you have ever heard.
Finally, due to the construction of the chassis, it is virtually immune to Radio Frequency Interference.
“The X3 Tube Amp is my pride and joy. It is the amp I wished I had when I was a pro guitar player back in the 80’s. It translates exactly what I want to express – with all the musicality, dynamics and harmonics I could ever wish for. X3 simply rewards my playing in a way I have not been able find in any other amp.”

How we record
Guitar -> Caveman Audio stomp -> Caveman Audio X2/X3 Amplifier -> Caveman Audio 412 cab.
We use two microphones in front of the cabinet – a Shure SM57 and a Royer R-121. The microphone signals are sent to the Caveman Audio Dual Mic Preamp and the outputs then run straight into Pro Tools.
The sound you hear has NOT been processed in any way – no additional compression or EQ. What you hear is simply the raw recorded signal. We add a little reverb and occasionally a bit of stereo delay – but that’s it!
The bass is recorded with a PJ bass guitar straight into the Caveman Audio BAS1 preamp – and from there directly into ProTools.
All Acoustic Guitars are recorded with a Martin D28, passing the signal from the onboard piezo pickup straight into the Caveman Audio ACC1 preamp and then directly into Pro Tools.
The drums are Superior Drummer 3 grooves.
